Week #2: Personal Tales

Welcome back to our second week of the semester.  We begin with a Peace Corps representative information session.  Many educators may choose the Peace Corps, and we wanted to give you an opportunity to learn more about the Peace Corps should that be relevant to your future. My 30 months in the Peace Corps were unforgettable, the hard work one loves beyond all expectations.  I learned so much from my middle school students I was teaching, and equally from living in an international environment in which just about everything was new.

Next, we will focus upon an oral discussion of the Why? of educational technology and then begin a one to three-minute personal tale, a multimedia story about something of real interest to each of us.  We will use the samples from previous students personal tales to get an idea of some of what is possible with these tales. http://classes.soe.umt.edu/index.html

There is no one format required, but one may use MS PowerPoint to anchor the story, iMovie to add narration and background sound tracks as MS PowerPoint doesn’t accommodate both sound files at once, and in general, and for sure, a sprinkling of multimedia.  Once completed, we’ll share with each other on Monday, February 11, beginning at about 5:30 PM, so we’ll have some time to polish the work next week before presenting, and we’ll also have a new assignment next week to begin working on due the following week.

Finally for this 2nd week, update your blog to include a link to a TED video; you may embed the link directly in your blog post.
